Best Design Recognition Award
Criteria and Guidelines
Eligibility - Any active Cub Scout in good standing who's qualified Pinewood Derby Car runs in the qualify races of Pack 39 annual Pinewood Derby Race.
Award To - Award to one member of each Cub Scout or Webelos Den.
Award - Pack recognition and prize ribbon
Judges - The Pinewood Derby race judges
Judging - Each judge will vote for one car. If no clear majority is indicated after voting then any car that did not receive a vote is eliminated and the voting takes place again. If no clear majority is indicated after voting a second time then the "race coordinator" casts the deciding vote.
Criteria - Each den will have one member recognized as having the best designed and cosmetically pleasing race car. This award is primarily intended to recognize the design and cosmetic appearance of the car. The following should be considered when judging the candidates:
- The capabilities of age group
- The amount of assistance needed from an adult for construction
- The best overall physical appearance
- The finish of the car
- The originality of the design
- Craftsmanship
- The time to construct the car
